Reverend John H. Kennealy

Wilton Cardinal Gregory has named Father John (Jack) Kennealy the new Pastor of Saint Andrew’s beginning on January 19, 2022. He was born in Washington, DC, grew up in Takoma Park, and is a graduate of Montgomery Blair High School. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Master of Business Administration from George Washington University, as well as a Master of Divinity. Prior to entering the seminary, he worked as an accounting manager with experience in grants administration.

His volunteer tutoring with inner-city children and refugee families at St. Francis Xavier in Southeast Washington, DC and another program led him to realize he was being called to a different path. With the prayers of friends and the encouragement of a local priest, he applied for the priesthood. He completed his theology studies at Blessed John XXIII Seminary in Boston, MA and was ordained a priest in 2004.

Father Jack served as Parochial Vicar at Blessed Sacrament in Washington, DC from 2004-2007. He served as Pastor at Immaculate Heart of Mary in Lexington Park from 2007-2011, Saint Nicholas in Laurel, MD from 2011-2017, and Saint Matthias Apostle in Lanham, MD since 2017.

Welcome Father Jack!

In preparation for the start of his assignment at Saint Andrew’s, parishioners are invited to pray a novena over the nine days leading up to his arrival through the intercession of Saint John Vianney, patron saint of parish priests.

The daily prayers for this novena and suggested intention are provided <HERE>.
