The Holy Father has announced that 2025 will be a Jubilee Year, something which happens every 25 years. The theme for Jubilee 2025 is “Pilgrims of Hope,” and it will be a year of hope for a world suffering the impacts of war, the ongoing effects of COVID-19 pandemic, and the climate crisis. The Universal Church embraces the Jubilee Year 2025 (the 2,025th anniversary of the Incarnation of our Lord). The USCCB is thrilled to support the Holy Father in this “event of great spiritual, ecclesial, and social significance in the life of the Church.”
The Holy Father writes:
“For everyone, may the Jubilee be a moment of genuine, personal encounter with the Lord Jesus, the “door” (cf. Jn 10:7.9) of our salvation, whom the Church is charged to proclaim always, everywhere and to all as “our hope” (1 Tim 1:1).” Christ is the “door”. We have entered through him, and we have seen the joy of being with the “door”.
To facilitate the local celebration of the Jubilee, our archbishop, Wilton Cardinal Gregory, issued a decree on December 12, 2024, the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, establishing nine parishes and one Catholic Student Center as Jubilee Churches throughout the archdiocese. More information: Pilgrims of Hope
Father in heaven,
may the faith you have given us
in your son, Jesus Christ, our brother,
and the flame of charity enkindled
in our hearts by the Holy Spirit,
reawaken in us the blessed hope
for the coming of your Kingdom.
May your grace transform us
into tireless cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel.
May those seeds transform from within both humanity and the whole cosmos
in the sure expectation
of a new heaven and a new earth,
when, with the powers of Evil vanquished,
your glory will shine eternally.
May the grace of the Jubilee
reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope,
a yearning for the treasures of heaven.
May that same grace spread
the joy and peace of our Redeemer
throughout the earth.
To you our God, eternally blessed,
be glory and praise for ever.
Amen
