Work has begun on the renovation of our multi-purpose room kitchen!  A team of 8 men began demolition of the kitchen today at 5:30AM. The contractor started by removing all the existing fixtures, the ceiling, and old mechanical systems. The new kitchen will have all new walls, ceiling, and floor. New heating, air conditioning, and ventilation systems and all new kitchen equipment will be installed. The project will take about two months, but with some luck, it will be done before school starts. In the meantime, pardon our mess.

Demolition is complete and so far there have been no surprises. Keep praying!

Friday, August 3, 2018

The metal wall studs are in. New electric and plumbing are in progress. The contractor hopes to have Montgomery County inspections for electric and plumbing completed next week.

Saturday, August 11, 2018

Most of this week’s work has been “behind the scenes.”  Plumbing has been rerouted, below-slab work has been done, and electrical lines have been run.

Friday, August 17, 2018

The new drywall went up where the hood will be installed.  The kitchen equipment is expected to start arriving next week.

Wednesday, August 22, 2019

The main focus this week is delivery and installation of the HVAC equipment.  Some has arrived, some still pending.  Trade permits for the gas line have caused a little delay but we are looking for a lot of visible progress by this time next week.  The hood installation is underway!

Monday, September 3, 2018

Most of the roof-top mechanical equipment has been installed. Much of the subfloor has been installed. The hood and fans are installed. Next week we expect the completion of WSSC permit review,  and then the final plumbing connections can be made and the floor work completed.

There is a little holdup with the plumbing permit, but working to resolve this soon. In the meantime, enjoy the view of our new hood and other mechanical equipment.

Sunday, September 23, 2018

We are still waiting on the plumbing permit, but we have some progress on the ceiling in the meantime.

Wednesday, October 3, 2018

We’ve been in a bit of a holding pattern while we continue to wait for the plumbing permit. With your prayers, and a bit of luck, we should have the approval by early next week. Once in hand, the project should be completed in three weeks.

Wednesday, October 10, 2018

The WSSC permit has been obtained for the kitchen renovation and the plumbing inspection is expected October 11. Completion of the project is currently projected in five weeks, by November 9, with rapid visible progress expected on drywall, flooring, etc. in the coming days.

Things have really picked up steam with the kitchen remodel.  They have the base coat of the floor finish done, the wall covering, and more.  The end is in sight.

Monday, October 29, 2018

The floors are finished. The workers are installing some stainless steel wall panels, doing electrical connections, and painting today and tomorrow.

Tuesday, October 31, 2018

Stainless steel plates are up near the cooking equipment and hood and Fiberglass Reinforced Panels are in, creating a washable, durable, and water- and grease-resistant surface. Now to work on electrical connections and painting. Looking good!

Appliances have arrived and installation has begun. They will be in by tomorrow. That’s our refrigerator in the back of the truck!

November 1, 2018

The appliances and sinks are in and the shelving is almost done. The plumbing connections will be completed tomorrow. They’ve been working on the ansul system (fire suppression system over the cooking installation).

November 2, 2018

Everything is coming together nicely! We are in the home stretch, thanks be to God!

November 29, 2018

We’ve passed all inspections and we’re good to go! The kitchen is open! Time to celebrate.
