Palms for a King, Hearts for a Savior

What if everyday we made ready a path for the Lord lined with palms of prayerful adoration, surrender, and love? What if the path led straight to our hearts?

Oooh That Smell

The classic Lynyrd Skynyrd song asks a fatal crash bound addict “Can’t you smell that smell [death] around you?” This week, Jesus raises Lazarus from the stench of death. He can raise us too.

Blinded by the Light

Our eyes are attracted to light, we need it to see. Yet the wrong kind of light can blind us — e.g. laser, sun, welding torch. The same is true spiritually.

Still Thirsting? But for What?

Pastor’s Corner is back! Fr. Dan asks what do you thirst for? We can quench our thirst with pure, cool delicious water that hydrate us or with drinks that don’t.  Which do you choose?

How Do I Serve?

How do I serve? Who or What do I serve? With what do I serve? The answers to these questions say a lot about who we are. Whom or what do you serve?

Oh My What?

Names are very powerful. How we say a name speaks to how we feel about a person.  What about God’s name? When, where, how do you use it?

Illuminating the Darkness

Out of Jesus dark suffering on the cross  comes the eternal light that makes the darkest night bright. Do you think to let this light into the dark area of your life? Those you love?

The Perfect Time

Ever get frustrated because God seems to be making you wait?  Maybe it’s because He’s waiting for something perfect: “The Perfect Time.”

An Invitation

Jesus invited St. Andrew to follow Him and to invite others to do the same.  Fr. Dan invites you to invite someone who is struggling to follow Jesus. Will you?

Potency of Silence: Joseph

Scripture does not record any words that Joseph uttered.  It is his actions — what he does and does not do — that speak to us across the centuries.

The Manger of Your Heart

Our hearts can have empty, poor mangers waiting to receive Jesus and His promise of joy and abiding Love.  Fr. Dan invites us to prepare the mangers in our hearts to receive the Christ Child.

Preparing

Apprehensive about frenetic shopping, nerve-racking preparations, and tension-filled holiday tables? Why not prepare differently this year? Invite the Holy Spirit to make every moment His.

Making the Encounter Count

When you pray, do you encounter Jesus? When you encounter others, do you invite Jesus to be with you?

Jesus Still Heals

Jesus is still on a Mission to heal.  Do you trust Him to heal your wounds? Do you trust that He is who He said He is? That He is Love. Do you ask Him to heal you? Your family and friends?

Being Prodigal

One definition of prodigal is having or giving something on a lavish scale.  Another is doing so but wastefully. How are we prodigal? How is God prodigal?

Strong Foundations, Strong Hearts

How’s the foundation of your heart?  Are there cracks? Some areas that could be stronger? Let Jesus repair the foundation with His love so He can build a heart full of His Love.

The Heart of the Host

Jesus remains the ultimate Host.  He invites us to His Eucharistic table.   To follow Him means becoming hosts who welcome others into our hearts that have been filled with his Eucharistic love for all.

Making the E Team

Summer Training Camps are over. Time to find out who made the team, who made the cut.  Our life is a kind of spiritual training camp.  Are you training to make the final cut?

Being Aware, Being Prepared

Staying prepared and focused are the secrets to being ready for the challenges and temptations of life when the hours and days roll by and life becomes same-old, same-old, ho-hum.

He Who Dies with the Most _____, Wins!

Fill in the blank by how you live.  Does your answer say that you truly trust God to bless you with what you need and more? Or that you love the joy of sharing His blessings?

To Spurn, to Spar, or to Spare

When people hurt and attack us or even do evil things to us, should we spurn and isolate them?  Or spar and fight them? Or spare and forgive them and ask God to bless them with His mercy and love?

Inviting Christ into Our Suffering

Inviting Jesus into moments of suffering, brings consolation through His immense, sacred, compassionate Love. We are no longer alone.  The Divine, healer, redeemer, consoler is with us.

Won’t You be My Neighbor?

In Luke 10, Jesus challenges us to love our neighbor as ourselves. Sometimes we do this through spiritual works of mercy done with listening ears, objective eyes, and a loving heart.

It’s OK to Talk about Him

It’s ok to talk about Him. Really. He asked us to talk about Him. He does so much for us. Why not share what He is doing in your life? Someone you love may really need to know about His Love.

Let Yourself Free

Unforgiveness is a heavy yoke. It deprives us of freedom, joy, and time. Jesus offers another way. Let yourself free by trading this cumbersome yoke for His light yoke of forgiveness and of love.

Who R U?

In the Gospel, Jesus asks “Who do you say that I am?” Paradoxically, by answering this question about Him, we actually answer the question about ourselves.  So, truly, who are you?

Restoration Projects

It’s the time of the year when home restoration projects abound. Jesus runs a 24/7 soul restoration project. If we only ask, He is always ready to restore us and our departed loved ones to new life.
